What can cause the DC voltage at the output of an audio amplifier?
I have a Fender amplifier 2244, and while I was doing routine dusting, one of the channels went out. When measured out, there 1.3VDC in the speaker output on that channel. I think this can be a particular problem, but I can not understand, even with the schemes and the control of the Board with a scope. 1.3V is present without a speaker connected. I have an audio signal under way, which I have traced throughout the amplifier, and signal changes or somewhere on the board of the driver, or the Board of transistors. With everything connected internally, the output transistor Board for Channel 1 is good, but the Board giving second transistor is ~ 1.3V. I think the board is a transistor push-pull amplifier.
It could be a lot of things. One thing to try is to check for a burned out transistor. If this occurs, one or more fuses or circuit in the amplifier is going to fly too. So first check for blown fuses (you can do this by visual inspection or verification of continuity with an ohm meter), or try resetting circuit breakers. And if the fuses or breakers are okay, then it probably is not a blown output device. If one or more of them are open, check the cables to the output devices (which mounts the aluminum heat sink) with a diode tester, or continuity tester. If you are short-circuited (0 ohms in the case of a continuity tester and 0 V in the case that the diode correction) in both directions (by swapping the test probes around when measuring through two terminals), then the device is blown and needs replacement. If the plug or socket joints are going to, you can try reseating they.
